About Insulation

Insulation, also known as thermal insulation (Division 7), is a general term used to describe products that are used to reduce heat loss or gain by providing a barrier between conditioned and non-conditioned areas that are significantly different in temperature. Insulation comes in many shapes and sizes, and each product is installed to reduce the amount of heat that escapes from a building in the winter months, and protects it from heat gain in the summer.

Brazos Urethane, Inc. specializes in Polyurethane insulation products, more specifically open and closed cell insulation. Both of these products are incredible insulators, thanks to their air-barrier properties. As building codes become more difficult to comply with energy code requirements, spray polyurethane foam insulation has seen a drastic increase as the product of choice for architects and building professionals. Spray polyurethane foam insulation will consistently perform 20-40% better than conventional insulation, and meets or exceeds building code requirments per IRC N1105 – Performance Alternative.

Spray Foam Insulation

Brazos Urethane, Inc. offers a wide variety of polyurethane products for residential and commercial projects, including open cell and closed cell insulation. Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) is better than any other insulation product on the market at reducing air leakage, and is manufactured and installed “on-site” to custom fit your building. The products we use are high-pressure plural component (two-component) sets consisting of an isocyanurate (Side-A) and resin (Side-B). The products are mixed and installed according to manufacturer specifications to create a custom installation.

Now, every house and climate zone is different, so please contact your local sales representatives for more information on which product(s) will work best for you. We are here to help you understand the benefits of each of our products, and how you can achieve the energy performance you are looking for.

Conventional Insulation

In addition to polyurethane products, we also offer a full suite of conventional insulation products for residential and commercial projects. Conventional products have been around for many years, and are typically a more cost effective option to spray polyurethane foam. Generally, we recommend conventional products inside the thermal envelope for sound attenuation, due to the thermal performance difference compared to foam, but we install at the thermal envelopes when specified by plans. We carry and install several conventional building products, including:

  • Fiberglass Batt Insulation (Faced & Unfaced)
  • Mineral Wool and Fire-Safing
  • Blown-in Insulation
  • Sound Attenuation Products
